Sadly there are about a 100 buildings torn down starting in 1955, including many homes built in the 1860’s to 1890’s. This was the first area of rebuilding west of the Mississippi. Over 50 new apartment buildings were built.
Here are two specific examples. One is built in the 1960’s, right at Lake Merritt.
